JR Smith made his golf debut for North Carolina A&T on Monday, and his former Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers teammate LeBron James couldn't be any happier for him.

On Twitter, LeBron shared how proud he is of Smith for doing something he loves. He also expressed how “amazing” it is for Smith to compete at such level after a bright and colorful NBA career.

While the former Lakers guard struggled in his debut, firing an 83 (+12), it's just the start and he still has plenty of opportunity to get things really going. Fortunately for JR Smith, it certainly looks like he has a ton of people encouraging him as he starts his journey in college golf.

For what it's worth, even Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was hyped when he learned about JR Smith entering the North Carolina A&T golf team back in August. He called the move “big time” and expressed his strong support for his ex-rival with the Cavs and Lakers.

As for LeBron James, after watching Smith's golf debut, he is set to focus on his preparations for the 2021-22 season. The Lakers struggled during the preseason, but The King is not making a big deal out of it. After all, he knows how to be locked in when the games that matter begins.
