When Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is not too busy causing headaches to opposing teams, he likes to play golf. He keeps himself updated on news and trends in the so-called gentleman's sport. Of course, that includes the latest on golf's newest rising star: JR Smith.

Smith on Tuesday was cleared by the NCAA to play golf for North Carolina A&T. The two-time NBA champion is quite the golf aficionado even during his hoops days, and now, he has the chance to finally compete at a high level.

No one was happier for him than Curry, who posted on Twitter to salute Smith.

“Now on the tee. That's big time!”

Maybe Curry and Smith could hit a few links together soon.

Curry is regarded as one of the best golfers among current NBA players, so getting his approval should surely boost Smith's confidence. The former NBA Sixth Man of the Year is a freshman walk-on for North Carolina A&T and he recently told ESPN that he's not too worried about his golf stint since he's already used to the pressure in the NBA.

“I just know how to compete with myself. As being a shooter and with golf, it correlates to trying to hit different shots and your creativity, and that swing and try to have that flow and tempo.”

Stephen Curry could sure use a round or two to relax his mind as his parents, Dell and Sonya Curry are going through what appears to be an unfortunate and ugly divorce, with cheating accusations from both camps.
