Things haven't been rosy in La La Land and it continues to be that way after the Los Angeles Lakers stunningly lost to the Portland Trail Blazers in the road Wednesday night, 107-105. For those looking for somebody to blame for this excruciating defeat at the hands of a home underdog — especially the way the Lakers failed to take good care of the leather — LeBron James is willing to be that guy.

Speaking to the media after the game, the Lakers star compared spoke like a football coach and accepted responsibility for the way his team handled the ball.

Via Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints:

“I take accountability for that. It starts with being me, being the point guard of tonight's team. It trickled down to everybody else. I take full responsibility for that.”

The Lakers turned the ball over 21 times against the Blazers, and that's with Russell Westbrook not playing due to lower back tightness. James finished with 30 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists but he threw the ball away a total of six times. Malik Monk started in place of Westbrook and recorded five turnovers. Talen Horton-Tucker was the other culprit, as he had four turnovers in 14 minutes off the bench.

With the loss, the Lakers dropped to 26-30 and are now just 3-7 over their last 10 games.

Los Angeles has a turnover rate of 14.5%, one of the worst in the NBA — 23rd overall, to be exact — and that's something James and company will have to clean up if they want to avoid missing the boat to the playoffs.
