After coming close on a few occasions, Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball has finally done it. He claimed the first triple-double of his NBA career as he put up 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists albeit in a losing effort against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night.
With that terrific performance, Ball now has the distinction of being the youngest NBA player ever to tally a triple-double at 20 years and 15 days, beating out LeBron James’ old record by five days.
Lakers team president Earvin “Magic” Johnson, who had quite a few of those triple-doubles during his career, was quick to congratulate his young star.
Congratulations to Lonzo @ZO2_ for becoming the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple double.

However, the savvy court general seems to be unfazed by the historic feat.

Lonzo Ball nearly had that record in just his second career game when he had 29 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists against the Phoenix Suns. He’s had endured a rough stretch since, in terms of his shooting. The Lakers guard has the second-worst field goal percentage in the shot clock era through his first 12 games.
However, Ball’s amazing performance against the Bucks should be a good reminder as to why the Lakers picked him No. 2 overall. Aside from the triple-double, he also added four blocks and three steals.
While Ball may have his scoring struggles as a rookie, he still possesses the potential for greatness due to his ability to do just about everything else on the court very well. Don't be too surprised if this first triple-double is just one of a lot more to come.
