Legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who coached Kobe Bryant on three different USA Teams, shared that he and the Duke basketball team mourned together while recalling the good memories of the Los Angeles Lakers icon.

Per the Duke Men's Basketball Twitter, Krzyzewski noted that Bryant was his leader in the three times he coached him. Off the court, the coach also shared how “amazing” Bryant was with his grandkids.

Their first team-up was in the 2007 Las Vegas FIBA Americas Tournament. While the Americans weren't faced with a big threat, it marked the international debut of Kobe Bryant, who was tagged as the leader and best player of the squad. The team easily snagged the gold, allowing them to qualify for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

The 2008 version of Team USA was aptly dubbed the “Redeem Team.” After all, in the 2004 Olympics and the 2006 FIBA World Championship, the Americans came away with the Bronze medal — an embarrassment to a basketball program that's considered the best in the world.

Bryant was named captain to a team comprised of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Jason Kidd, just to name a few.

In the gold medal match against powerhouse Spain, the Lakers superstar put on a stellar fourth quarter to win in for the Americans.

Two years ago, a clip resurfaced of Coach Mike Krzyzewski sharing bits of Bryant's legendary work ethic to his Duke team.

Indeed, Kobe Bryant is a legend in the game. He might be gone forever but his Mamba Mentality will live on. The Lakers great will continue to inspire generation upon generation of basketball players.

Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gigi were among the nine people who were killed in a tragic helicopter crash on Sunday in Calabasas, California. They were heading to the Mamba Academy at Thousand Oaks for a basketball game.
