The Los Angeles Lakers undoubtedly had the best offseason among the 30 NBA teams. After all, not only did they acquire Russell Westbrook to form their own Big 3, but they also got the likes of Carmelo Anthony, DeAndre Jordan, Kendrick Nunn and Trevor Ariza to name a few.

For Stephen A. Smith, though, the signing of Anthony is already enough for the Lakers to be declared winners of free agency. According to the veteran commentator and sports analyst, getting Melo–even at 37 years old–gives the Purple and Gold a player who can score and is hungry to win at the highest level.

It's hard to argue with Stephen A.'s remarks, though. He is correct in saying that the Lakers are lucky to have Melo and should thank God they were able to land him–and at the veteran's minimum that is.

Anthony's deal is undoubtedly a quality signing that should benefit the Lakers, as they now have a player who can score in bunches off the bench when their Big 3 of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook are on the bench. Melo is also a proven leader who has shown with the Portland Trail Blazers that he can accept a bench role and be effective at it.

The Lakers are one of the favorites to win it all in 2021-22, and it is not wrong to expect Anthony to have a massive impact on the team.
