HBO's Winning Time has been quite a hit. The show about the Los Angeles Lakers' Showtime era has gained quite a following. It's had a few detractors too, with none bigger than Lakers icon Jerry West, who himself has not been pleased with how he has been portrayed by the show.

Shaquille O'Neal has chimed in on all the talk and he admits that he's enjoyed watching the program. However, the former Lakers superstar also believes that the show has been unfair to West:

“I like it but I don't like how they depict my good friend Jerry West. But other than that I think it's very interesting,” Shaq told Rory Carroll of Reuters.

“Jerry was always kind and compassionate to me. I've never seen him have those meltdowns. So I think that portrayal of Mr West was probably false.”

When asked if he thought it was a good idea to have a second season of Winning Time aired with the focus being on the Lakers' Kobe Bryant-Shaquille O'Neal era, the Hall of Fame big man had no qualms about it at all.

“Let's do it,” he said.

“I'm the type where you can say or do whatever you want, no problem. I understand the entertainment world.”

Now wouldn't that be a treat? HBO has done a relatively impressive job on the 1980s era of the Lakers so it wouldn't be beyond them to take a stab at another one of the purple and gold's more memorable periods.
