There have already been a number of blockbuster trades around the league, but at this point, the Los Angeles Lakers have remained quiet on that front. Be it a matter of choice or not, the fact remains that LeBron James and Co. have yet to land the player(s) they have been longing for as the deadline quickly approaches.

In a joint report by Dan Woike, Broderick Turner, and Andrew Grief for the Los Angeles Times, it is now being reported that the Lakers may need to keep their expectations in check. They might be hoping to land a big name in the trade market in the coming days, but given what they have to offer in exchange, LA should be looking at more realistic targets. In this respect, veteran wingman Terrence Ross of the Orlando Magic could be their man:

A more realistic target, sources said, would be Orlando’s Terrence Ross. To get him, the Lakers would need to include Horton-Tucker and maybe that first-round pick and be willing to take on a player who has seen his efficiency diminish over the last three seasons, never a good sign for the kind of shooter Ross is purported to be.

Talen Horton-Tucker and their 2022 first-round pick are considered as the Lakers' top trade assets. As such, it's only logical to assume that they will need to include both in any trade package they might be interested in. Right now, this appears to come in the form of Terrence Ross.

The 31-year-old is no star, but he does bring a lot to the table. This is exactly why several other teams have already been rumored to be interested in Ross as well. The Lakers are not alone in their pursuit and they will need to act fast and smart here if they want to land their man.
