There was reportedly “no way” Kawhi Leonard was going to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers to play with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

There were multiple reports which claimed the Lakers were the front-runners to land Leonard, who is from California. However, those who know Leonard well knew he wasn't interested in forming a superteam with James and Davis.

Instead, Leonard recruited Paul George to the Clippers and now the Clips are title contenders just like the Lakers. A case can be made the Clippers are better than the LakeShow since they have more depth and a better head coach.

A source told The Undefeated early last week that there was “no way” Leonard was going to sign as a free agent with James, Davis and the Lakers despite speculation they were the front-runners.

It would have shocked a lot of people if Kawhi Leonard joined LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the Purple and Gold. Why would a two-time Finals MVP who just won the title want to play second or maybe even third fiddle on a team?

On the Clippers, Leonard is the clear cut first option. He gets his wish of being back home in Los Angeles while also getting a star partner in Paul George.
