On Friday, Russell Westbrook decided to part ways with his long-time agent, Thad Foucher, after 14 years. In his statement, Foucher hinted at Russ wanting to be traded by the Los Angeles Lakers.

But, according to Dan Woike of the LA Times, he's never actually requested to be moved.

This could be a simple case of the agent being upset over getting fired by Russell Westbrook and then blurting false narratives. There has been no shortage of trade talks surrounding the Lakers guard though after a tumultuous first season in LA. He struggled immensely to fit alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Most believe that'll be the case again in 2022-23, even with a new head coach in Darvin Ham.

The only trade scenario to gain any traction at this point is a blockbuster involving Russ and Kyrie Irving, but there is also a possibility that Westbrook heads to a third team not named the Brooklyn Nets, as recent reports suggest.

Westbrook just opted into his monstrous $47 million player option with the Lakers and there is certainly hope he could figure things out in 2022-23. The Nets have rejected every offer from Los Angeles so far because it didn't meet their asking price for Kyrie, though.

Russell Westbrook appears to be happy right now with where he's at. Yes, it was a down year, but this man is still a future Hall of Famer and a walking triple-double. It would be foolish to count him out. There is undoubtedly still the possibility he's traded if the Lakers can actually get Irving, but for now, he's focused on being the best he can be for LA.
