Hitting nothing but air during free throw attempts is something not new for some centers in the NBA. DeAndre Jordan, Dwight Howard and Andre Drummond are just some of the big men who have struggled to knock down shots from that distance, and have airballed a few attempts in the past. Brook Lopez is not part of that list though, as he is a career 79.4 percent free throw shooter, and has even surpassed the 80 percent mark in four seasons.

However, he missed the rim completely on two consecutive attempts on Thursday during the second quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers game. It left his coaches, and even the TNT broadcast crew of Marv Albert and Reggie Miller in shock, as it was totally unexpected from him.

While that is not a common sight to see from the 29-year-old Stanford product, it is also worth noting that his mindset could not be at the right place while shooting the free throws, as only a couple of sequences prior, he opted not to challenge the dunk of LeBron James, and it may have been messing with his head.

The Lakers fans are hoping he can quickly get over that embarrassing incident, as they need him at his best to beat the streaking Cavs. He is undoubtedly one of their most important players, and having him play at a high level will definitely make their task on the night easier to achieve.
