The Indianapolis Colts found some unexpected success in the 2018 season after a very rocky start. Not only did the Colts go on a nice winning streak, but they made the playoffs for the first time in a few years and beat the Houston Texans in the first round. Head coach Frank Reich lead the Colts to a fantastic season in his season as a head coach and it looks like they can expect many more successful years in the future.

After having quarterback Andrew Luck for the entire season and seeing what the offense is capable of, it's time for the Colts to focus their attention to attaining defensive talent that will match the offense. One free agent that may be enticed to head to the AFC is New York Giants safety Landon Collins. Collins' resume speaks for itself. He is a former first-team All-Pro and has made the Pro Bowl in three of the four seasons he has been in the league. In four seasons Collins has accumulated 437 tackles, four sacks, 32 pass deflections, and three forced fumbles.

The Giants have been abysmal the past two seasons after an outstanding 2016 season, but Collins been the best defensive player on the roster since joining the league back in 2015. Collins is now a free agent and there is a lot of speculation that suggests the Giants won't be paying him the contract he deserves and desires. Unfortunately the Giants they made it pretty clear halfway through the 2018 season they were rebuilding the unit. The Giants traded their best run defender in Damon Harrison and cornerback Eli Apple prior to the trade deadline.

The Colts could benefit incredibly with the addition of Collins in the offseason and he could be a fantastic complement to the young defensive players the team currently has. Linebacker Darius Leonard is already one of the league's best at his position and the Colts already have one of a potentially strong pass defense. Players like Malik Hooker and Quincy Wilson are two young players with a lot of potential and Collins could help bring out the best in them.

Indianapolis will likely have a fairly busy offseason now that they have seen how great their current roster is, but there is work to be done in regards to the team's defense. Collins will be a hot commodity and the Colts should do everything they can to bring him on board.
