The Detroit Lions made a franchise-changing move when they selected Michigan's Adian Hutchinson with the second pick in the NFL Draft. Hutchinson was regarded as perhaps the most pro-ready player in the draft- and was the consensus number one-overall pick for much of the offseason before Travon Walker overtook him ahead of the draft. On Monday, Detroit made another huge move regarding Hutchinson, signing him to a bonkers rookie contract, as reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Per Pelissero, Hutchinson agreed to a four-year contract worth $35,713,388, including $23,153,372 in a signing bonus after he was made one of the top picks in the NFL Draft.

The deal is fully guaranteed and, like other rookie contracts, contains a fifth-year option. The Lions didn't wait long to pay Hutchinson, who went off for the Wolverines as a senior, tallying 16.5 tackles for loss and 14 sacks in 14 games played while finishing second in the Heisman vote.

The Lions defense finished the 2021 season with the fourth-lowest pressure rate and totaled the third-fewest sacks, so it's not surprising to see a payday already in Hutchinson's hands.

He is being looked at as a potential savior for the Lions' defense. Along with Julian Okwara, Detroit has a promising pass-rushing duo for the future.
