Steven Gerrard has returned to Anfield for the first time as a manager and boy, did he receive a warm welcome from the Reds supporters. The Englishman walked out of the tunnel ahead of his Aston Villa side locking horns with Liverpool and instantly felt the love.

Take a look:

You love to see it. Gerrard recently took over at Villa following an impressive stint at the helm with Scottish giants, Rangers. Of course, he enjoyed an illustrious career at Liverpool, proving to be one of the best midfielders to ever play for the club.

Gerrard, who is a Merseyside boy, scored 120 goals in 504 appearances for the Premier League giants and also won the Champions League in 2005. Aside from lifting Europe's most prized trophy, Gerrard captured two FA Cups and three League Cups.

Stevie G is undoubtedly one of the most loved characters by Liverpool supporters thanks to the wonderful things he did at Anfield. It's extremely weird seeing him in the away dugout, but the fact that Gerrard is managing at the highest level in the English top flight is impressive in itself.

Who knows what the future holds. Maybe we'll see Steven Gerrard back at Liverpool in the near future.
