LSU and Ed Orgeron made the official announcement shortly after the Tigers knocked off the Florida Gators on Saturday. Orgeron will not be returning to LSU but will finish out the season as head coach.

Via ESPN.com, Orgeron discussed his time at LSU as he started to reflect on his six years running the show, which has included a National Championship with Joe Burrow and Co.

“The last couple of years are not the standard of LSU,” he said. “But I have no regrets. I know I went to work as hard as I could every day, tried as hard as I could every day, and that's all you can ask.

“We're going to finish,” he said. “We're not going to blink. I'm going to be right there with them. That's the reason, Scott and I mutually agreed, that I'm going to finish with this team.”

LSU boasted one of the most dominant college football teams and season in 2019 when they went 15-0 en route to the national title. The Tigers won 12 of those 15 games that year by double digits and cleaned up on all sorts of awards which included plenty of coach of the year honors for Orgeron.

The two years since haven't lived up to the standard at LSU, which Orgeron knows. After a slow start this season the writing on the wall became more clear.

LSU will look to finish strong for Coach O and they have a big test coming up in Week 8 against Ole Miss.
