The Minnesota Lynx take on the Los Angeles Sparks. Our WNBA odds series has our Lynx Sparks prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Lynx Sparks.
The Minnesota Lynx do not have the best record in the WNBA right now, but they're one of a few teams with no more than two losses. Their two losses have come to the defending champion Las Vegas Aces and the unbeaten Connecticut Sun. The loss to the Sun was by one point. Minnesota has set a very high standard and has shown it can respond well to periods of adversity. The Lynx trailed the Dallas Wings by nine points midway through the second quarter of this past Sunday's game before pulling away for an 11-point win over Dallas. That Sunday win followed a Friday blowout of the Phoenix Mercury in which the Lynx got an early 10-point lead and then kept building on that advantage for the rest of the game. Whether it's winning with a second-half surge or by establishing wire-to-wire dominance, the Lynx are finding different ways to win. This team is showing signs that it will be hard to deal with come playoff time.
The Los Angeles Sparks are learning how to play. This is a developmental season for them. The playoffs are already out of reach if we are being bluntly realistic. The Sparks are trying to integrate 2024 WNBA draft picks Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson into their lineup. Brink and Jackson are learning about pro basketball in much the same way that Caitlin Clark is with the Indiana Fever.
Los Angeles really struggles to score. In a WNBA where the better teams are averaging well over 80 points per game, the Sparks are averaging 77. They are in the bottom tier of the league, having won only two games to this point in the season. Los Angeles is coming off a blowout loss to the Phoenix Mercury this Sunday. Los Angeles couldn't score 70 points in that game, a reminder of this team's enduring problems at that end of the floor.

Why The Lynx Could Cover The Spread
The Los Angeles Sparks just aren't very good, and more precisely, they're not very good at the offensive end of the court. Opponents are handling the Sparks fairly easily because Los Angeles doesn't have enough elite shooters and scorers. The margin for error with this team is so small. The Lynx, on the other hand, can go through a bad patch or two in a game and not merely win, but but cover the spread. They trailed the Dallas Wings by nine on Sunday. They were a 6.5-point favorite. They not only won the game outright but covered, winning by 11. This team has earned trust early in the season.
Why The Sparks Could Cover The Spread
The Sparks are bound to play better on offense at some point. They can't continue to be this bad. They will be better. The laws of averages dictate that.
Final Lynx-Sparks Prediction & Pick
The Sparks are bad, the Lynx are really good. Don't make this overly complicated. Take Minnesota.
Final Lynx-Sparks Prediction & Pick: Lynx -7.5
