The sixth overall pick of the 2017 NBA draft, Jonathan Isaac is one of the most intriguing pieces of the Orlando Magic. Gifted with the physical tools in size and length, his calling card has always been on the defensive end of things.

Unfortunately, he only got to showcase a small sample size last season. He was shelved for the remainder of the season, playing only 27 games due to foot and ankle injuries. With another stroke of bad luck, in the Magic's preseason matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers, Isaac suffered a right ankle injury.

According to a tweet from John Denton, his initial showing in the first quarter was promising but eventually did not return after.

A tweet of a video puts things into perspective on what happened.

It is always disheartening to see a player get injured. For a young player like Isaac, it just gets worse losing developmental minutes and experience that could make him a better player for the franchise.

However, with patience and the proper care, it would not be a surprise to see him back on the court for their season opener. Despite a crowded big man rotation for the Magic, eyes will be on the promising Jonathan Isaac to breakout this season.

A shot altering stalwart by nature, what makes him intriguing is his ability to knock down the long balls. In today's game of valuing pacing and spacing, Isaac has the profile to be a defensive stretch big man who can also clean the glass.
