Orlando Magic power forward Jonathan Isaac says Al-Farouq Aminu was a good pick up for the Magic this summer.

Aminu signed a three-year, $29.2 million contract with the Magic this offseason in free agency after playing the past four seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Isaac says Aminu is a great asset for the Magic, who will try and build off their 2018-19 season which saw them make the playoffs for the first time since 2012.

“Al-Farouq has been through it. He just went through a playoff run that went on all the way to the Western Conference Finals. Having him as a defensive voice will be great,” Isaac told Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype. “I’m sure he’s going to pick up on everything we do super quickly. He’s another asset to our team, especially to our young guys.”

Last season for the Blazers, Al-Farouq Aminu averaged 9.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 81 games while shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 34.3 percent from beyond the arc and 86.7 percent from the free-throw line.

In the 2019 postseason, Aminu put up 7.4 points, 6.3 rebounds 1.3 assists.

The Magic will go as far as Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, Evan Fournier, Terrence Ross and Jonathan Isaac can take them, although the play of Mohamed Bamba and Aminu will be important as well.

Last season, Isaac played in 75 games during the regular season and averaged 9.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.3 blocks.
