Orlando Magic guard Markelle Fultz finally made his long-awaited debut for his team on Sunday, as the Magic faced off against the San Antonio Spurs to open the NBA preseason. This was Fultz's first game back after a lengthy lay-off, and following his team's 125-89 victory against the Spurs, the 21-year-old admitted how great it felt to finally make his return to the court.

“It was huge,” Fultz said when asked what it meant to be playing basketball again, via Roy Parry of the Orlando Sentinel. “It was really just a blessing. I give a lot of praise to the man up top, God. It’s all I can say. It was my first time out there in a long time and I’m just happy I was able to step out on the floor and compete.”

After thanking the man above, Fultz did not forget to send his appreciation towards his teammates for all the support they gave him during his time on the sidelines.

“They’ve done a great job of supporting me, and I think that’s the biggest thing. I feel like all my teammates have my back,” Fultz said. “That dunk was one of the things I hope I can do if I get the chance to go dunk the ball.”

Finally, Fultz also described how thankful he was to all his family and friends who stayed by his side throughout his ordeal.

“I’m pretty sure I got a lot,” Fultz said of congratulatory text messages or voicemails. “A lot of my family and friends were praying and just happy for me to be back on the court, so when I get a chance to look at them, hopefully I’ll get a chance to text them all back.”

Fultz logged 17 minutes off the Magic bench on Sunday, accounting for six points, two rebounds, four assists, and a couple of steals in what was a promising debut for the former first overall pick.
