Orlando Magic big man Jonathan Isaac has been injured for almost his entire NBA career so far since being nabbed sixth overall in the 2017 Draft. After missing all of 2020/21 with a torn ACL, it appears Isaac won't play at all this season, either.

It's unknown if Isaac has hit a setback in his knee recovery, but nevertheless, it's very unfortunate considering he was a lottery pick and many had high expectations for him.

Magic president Jeff Weltman had this to say about the decision to keep Isaac sidelined:

“First and foremost, the care of our players will always be our top priority,” said Weltman. “We have to remember that Jonathan (Isaac) has missed essentially two years. While it continues to be a day-to-day process for him as he continues to strengthen and condition all aspects of his body, we feel we have reached a point where it would be prudent to say that he will not play this season for the Magic. I understand this can be frustrating to our fans, but Jonathan has worked extremely hard and he is eager to return to game action, which is why we must continue to manage his rehabilitation with the big picture in mind. Quite frankly, we are just out of time to ramp him up to play in games this season.”

To be honest, there isn't really much of a point to ramp up his intensity right now when the Magic are at the rock bottom of the East. Also, as mentioned, he hasn't played in almost two years. Now, Isaac can continue to work on his body all offseason and hopefully come back stronger in 2022/23. A disappointing update for Orlando fans, but not all is lost quite yet for the former first-round pick.
