Man City are on the brink of winning the title, as long as they don't drop points in their final game against Aston Villa on Sunday. A huge reason for their success has been Kevin De Bruyne, who is being awarded for his brilliance.

The Belgian was named the 2021-22 Premier League Player of the Season on Saturday, beating out Liverpool striker Mo Salah for the honor.

Via ESPN FC:

The Man City midfielder flourished in a big way this term, scoring 15 goals and supplying seven assists in 29 PL appearances. He also scored another two times and tallied three more assists in Europe. De Bruyne's brilliance was on full display on May 11th against Wolves, scoring a hat-trick by the 25th minute and eventually bagging four goals in a 5-1 thrashing.

This is actually De Bruyne's highest-scoring campaign, previously netting 13 in the 2019-20 season. While the assists numbers were down here, his ability to score goals at a consistent rate certainly proved to be valuable for Man City in their pursuit of another title.

Now, the Belgium international will have a legitimate number nine to feed assists to as Erling Haaland is set to arrive this summer from Borussia Dortmund. The thought of De Bruyne putting goals on a platter for the Norwegian is a scary sight in itself.
