All week, everyone in the golf world was wondering whether or not Tiger Woods was going to be able to play at The Masters. Not only did Woods end up deciding to play, after the opening round, he is in the red. Tiger battled all day and posted a -1 under 71 on Thursday. That has him in contention heading into Friday's second round.
The performance was unreal to watch, as you knew Woods was having to tough it out physically. He had talked all week about his endurance and ability to walk the course was going to be one of the biggest hurdles. That speaks volumes about his physical condition as he still recovers from surgery after his car accident 14 months ago.
After Woods finished his round, golf fans all around the world were left in awe. They let those feelings go free on Twitter.
Tiger with a 71. Simply astonishing, even for him.

Love Tiger so impressed by Tiger. My word. He’s walking like an 80-year-old man. And in the Top 10 after one round of the Masters.

Tiger Woods shooting -1 at Augusta National after almost losing his leg 14 months ago is incredible. #TheMasters

As this fan points out, not only is what Woods accomplished a miracle for him, but also for modern medicine.
A first-round -1 for Tiger is truly remarkable. What a treat for all of us.
Miracle of doctors and medicine, and his hard work back.

It was initially thought that Woods might never walk again. The accident left his leg mangled and doctors saying that a serious orthopedic surgery would be required to repair the damage. Well, clearly the surgery was successful. What Tiger accomplished Thursday is literally the stuff of legend.
Dude almost lost his leg and then dropped a -1 on the opening day at Augusta. Legend. 🐅

This fan took a more practical look at Tiger's round.
What a round from Tiger.
508 days since his last competitive round, only made two bogies, and even those seemed quite avoidable.
The driver was a liability and yet he recovered wonderfully and tactically plotted himself around.
Remarkable 71.

As he mentioned, Tiger Woods struggled off the tee. He had numerous up and downs to save par. One of his bogeys on the par-5 8th, Woods was actually chipping for eagle from about 40 feet. He misplayed the next two shots, dropping him a shot. But as CBS' Seth Davis points out, this would be truly remarkable if somehow he wins this thing.
Long way to go of course but if somehow Tiger does win this thing it pretty much has to be the last sporting event ever right?
