The Dallas Mavericks' season came to an end on Thursday night, as the Golden State Warriors put the finishing touches on the NBA Playoff series with a 120-110 victory that earned them a berth in the NBA Finals. It was a disappointing end after the Mavs found a way to knock out the Western Conference's no. 1 seed, the Phoenix Suns, in the previous round. No one was more disappointed than Mavs star Luka Doncic. Doncic spoke to reporters after the game and got brutally honest on the loss, per ESPN.

“I don't like losing, especially like this,” Doncic said after the Dallas Mavericks were eliminated Thursday night with a 120-110 Game 5 loss to the Golden State Warriors. “I played terrible.”

Doncic said that he “doesn't like losing”, noting that it was especially bad because he “played terrible.” The Mavs star definitely wasn't as sharp by his lofty standards, as he shot 10-for-28 from the field, including a putrid 3 of 13 from three-point range.

The Mavs certainly might have had a chance against the Warriors had more of those threes fallen. However, Doncic shouldn't be too hard on himself, given the way he played in the NBA Playoffs.

The star guard averaged over 30 points per game for the third time in the playoffs in his career. Doncic has proven to be someone who can rise to the occasion when it matters most.

He may not have played his best in Game 5 against the Warriors, though he should hold his head high after a strong postseason of play.
