What Is Maximum Football?

Overall, Maximum Football is an upcoming, free-to-play, indie simulation football video game. While the Beta comes to PC only, the full game (planned for a 2024 release) is launching for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Some of the key features include:

  • A unique physics system to provide a true simulation experience.
  • A College Dynasty Mode where you manage a college program. This includes recruitment, coaching hires, and more.
  • The ability to create Custom Playbooks and modify every aspect of your team/players.
  • An online mode where you build a roster of players via a “competitive card system”.
  • Upgrade players in Practice while earning more rewards via challenges (weekly and daily)
  • A Pro Season Mode where you play a professional year against 31 teams a you all vie for the championship

However, as a free-to-play title, the game will offer premium content for purchase. Furthermore, as the game launches into early access, the developers will update the game with more content regularly.

Overall, that includes everything you need to know about the Maximum Football Open Beta. EA College Football 25 and Madden 25 release this summer, with the former releasing exclusively on the latest generation of consoles (PS5 and XSX). But PC players won't be entirely without college football, as Maximum Football provides a free-to-play gridiron experience. Of course, the game does not have licensed teams along with real players, stadiums, and more. Nevertheless, it does provide a football experience that we don't see indie developers create too often.

We look forward to Maximum Football's official release. But for now, enjoy the Beta while you can before it goes away!
