The UFC 303 Main Card continues to roll as we’re set for another betting prediction and pick, this one focusing on the rankings within the Women’s Bantamweight (135) Division. Two elite contenders will face off as No. 3 Mayra Bueno Silva of Brazil will fight No. 7 Macy Chiasson of Texas. Check out our UFC odds series for our Silva-Chiasson prediction and pick.

Mayra Bueno Silva (10-3-1) comes in with a 5-3-1-1 UFC record after fighting for the vacant Bantamweight Championship early in 2024. Prior to that, she rode a four-fight winning streak and had her fifth victory revoked due to a failed drug test. Now, she looks to punch her ticket once again as she takes out another hungry contender. Silva stands 5’6″ with a 66.5-inch reach.

Macy Chiasson (9-3) has gone 7-3 during her UFC run since 2018. She’s gone a modest 2-2 over her last four fights, including two finishes during her losses. Still, she bounced back with a win in her last fight by choking out Pannie Kianzad and appearing at the top of her game. She’ll look to leapfrog the standings with a win over a former title challenger. Chiasson stands 5’11” with a 72-inch reach.

Why Mayra Bueno Silva Will Win

Mayra Bueno Silva went on a terrorizing run with three consecutive wins in 2022 and a career-defining victory over combat sports legend Holly Holm. She made it look easy with a standing ninja choke, but it was later uncovered that she had performance-enhancing drugs in her system, resulting in an overturned ‘No Contest’ decision. In her subsequent fight, Silva looked flat against Raquel Pennington and she’ll have an added layer of motivation hoping to defend her spot in the UFC rankings.

Mayra Bueno Silva is a very physically imposing fighter and given the height and reach advantage for Chiasson, Silva should look to bring this fight to the ground and operate where she’s most comfortable. Seven of her pro wins have come by way of submission and if she’s able to take mounted or back position, Silva will be very quick to sink a choke and try to end this fight. It’ll be interesting to see how long she decides to stand and test the range of Chiasson, but Silva immediately becomes the favorite in this fight if she’s able to force it to the ground.

Why Macy Chiasson Will Win

Macy Chiasson has had a few up-and-down moments over her last 5 fights from being KO’d with a body kick to finishing her last fight via RNC submission. She’s extremely versatile in her attacks and she has one of the more intimidating frames in the division given her height and long arms. Macy Chiasson is a kickboxer by nature and she’ll have a big advantage here with her reach. She’s also the more active kicker and could see success if she’s able to start chopping on Silva’s legs early.

Macy Chiasson would like to see more consistency out of herself, but she’s faced the current champion in Pennington before and has seen a ton of different looks within the division. She’s only been submitted one time in her career and she defends takedowns at a 62% clip, so expect her to do everything in trying to keep this fight standing. Chiasson has the faster movements and looks more fluid in the cage, so she should look to work her striking game and utilize her long legs to create space between her and Silva.

Final Mayra Bueno Silva-Macy Chiasson Prediction & Pick

This will be an interesting fight as both women are trying to prime themselves for a shot at the title. Mayra Bueno Silva is just a couple wins away from challenging for the belt once again and it’ll be interesting to see how big the skill-gap is between the third-ranked and seventh-ranked fighters in the division.

Mayra Bueno Silva is a very physically imposing fighter and she’ll have the noticeable strength advantage over most of her opponents. Her ability to fight along the fence and limit the offense of her opponent could be a tactic we see in practice during this fight. Macy Chiasson is a tough customer, however, and she’ll be doing everything in her power to keep the fight on the feet.

Ultimately, we like Mayra Bueno Silva to win this fight on the back of her experience and willingness to learn from her mistakes. After a few blunders and a failed title shot, I expect to see the best version of Bueno Silva on Saturday as she controls the grappling and finds a gritty way to win this fight.
