The Phoenix Mercury take on the Minnesota Lynx. Check out our WNBA odds series for our Mercury Lynx prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Mercury Lynx.

The WNBA has been a constantly changing league so far this season. A few things have remained the same, but a lot of teams have changed identities, some evolving and some regressing. One of the teams which has clearly improved over the past few weeks is the Phoenix Mercury. They got blown out by the Minnesota Lynx several weeks ago. They were non-competitive in a game which got away from them in the first quarter. They never recovered. The Mercury were without center Brittney Griner for a number of games earlier in the season. It partly explained Phoenix's struggles, but the Merc no-showed in a few games, the Lynx road game included, for reasons which went beyond just Griner's availability. Everyone on the team needed to be better and tougher. The Mercury needed to show they could take a punch and fight back.

When Phoenix met Minnesota at home in a rematch of the Lynx's blowout victory, Phoenix was ready to make the right response. Minnesota still controlled most of the game. The Lynx led by six points with 1:15 left. However, Phoenix's Kahleah Copper hit two big 3-pointers down the stretch, one in the final seconds, to lead the Mercury to a stunning 81-80 comeback win over the Lynx. That game seemed to mark a turning point in Phoenix's season. The Mercury have been a different team since then, hammering the Seattle Storm and defeating the New York Liberty while also playing a close and thrilling game in a 103-99 loss to the Las Vegas Aces.

Phoenix fought back against Minnesota. Now Minnesota tries to get back at Phoenix. This is a compelling matchup as the WNBA enters the final week of June and heads into the summer.

Why The Mercury Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Mercury are playing good basketball. Diana Taurasi still has it. She can still deliver the goods. She was outstanding for Phoenix in the fourth-quarter comeback win over the New York Liberty earlier this week. Phoenix was down seven points entering the fourth quarter but then put a 30-17 quarter on the Liberty to snap New York's eight-game winning streak. Taurasi got the big buckets for Phoenix and led the charge down the stretch. When a team can handle the Liberty in a back-and-forth game, that's an indication of the team's level of performance. Phoenix also blasted the Seattle Storm — one of the league's better teams — before it defeated the Liberty. You wouldn't want to bet against Phoenix right now.

Why The Lynx Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Lynx crushed the Mercury at home earlier this season. Then they lost by one in Arizona, as we noted above, but they still led that game by six with 1:15 left. They simply didn't play the final 75 seconds as well as they could have. If they lead by six with 1:15 left in this game, they will finish the job and cover the point spread of 5.5 points. The Lynx will want to avenge that loss in Phoenix, much as Phoenix wanted to avenge (and successfully did) its loss to the Lynx earlier in the season.

Final Mercury-Lynx Prediction & Pick

We're leaning to Minnesota, but our official recommendation is to pass on this game because of the way Phoenix is playing.
