The New York Mets selected Vanderbilt star pitcher Kumar Rocker in the first round of the MLB Draft and the selection brought an ecstatic reaction from the fans. Well, the deadline to sign draft picks is approaching, and the Mets have still not signed Rocker to a deal.

According to Ken Davidoff of the New York Post, the Mets deal with the talented hurler could be in serious jeopardy.

“The Mets’ agreement with their first-round draft pick Kumar Rocker is in limbo after the team expressed concerns with the right-hander’s pitching elbow during his physical examination, multiple industry sources told The Post.”

That is certainly not a good sign for the Mets. Rocker was sensational at Vanderbilt, and the two sides had agreed on a large signing bonus pending the physical. Now, with the team's concerns about Rocker, there is a very real chance that he elects to go back to Vanderbilt and try to improve his draft stock even more next season.

They could lose out altogether if they pass on him, and doing so would be a major blow, especially after all the excitement after they selected him at No. 10 overall.

This will definitely be a situation to monitor going forward.
