Bad weather has plagued us for a few weeks now. We're not talking a thunderstorm when you least want it, either. We're talking legitimate disaster. The Miami Hurricanes are the latest, in a far too long, group of people who will have plans changed due to calamities outside their control.

With Hurricane Irma bearing down on the Caribbean Wednesday, threatening South Florida later this week, the Hurricanes have decided they won’t be traveling to, or playing against, Arkansas State this Saturday.

The story was reported first by the Associated Press’ Tim Reynolds in Miami:

The game was scheduled to be played Saturday, with Miami leaving for Arkansas on Friday afternoon. With the hurricane expected, it just doesn't make a lot of sense for a bunch of people to start travelling.

A state of emergency has already been declared. In turn, mandatory evacuations are likely coming starting on Thursday in South Florida. Wisely, Miami officials will not put their players, coaches, staff, etc. through the grind of going to play a game while their family members might need all the help they can get.

As Reynolds notes, there won't be a time this season to reschedule the game. Arkansas State loses its chance to play Miami. In the grand scheme of things, considering a bleeping hurricane is headed to South Florida, this isn't the worst thing in the world.

It is only Wednesday, but fully expect more and more weather related updates for games scheduled to happen this weekend. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
