The Michigan football team is getting ready to take on Alabama football in the Rose Bowl game, and it could be Jim Harbaugh's final game coaching the Wolverines. Harbaugh has flirted with the NFL before, and after everything that happened this season with his suspensions, he seems to be getting fed up with the college football world a little bit. Harbaugh is focused on Michigan winning a national title, but this could be his last year.

Michigan football is working on a new contract for Harbaugh and he reportedly received a very hefty offer to remain the head coach of the Wolverines. Nothing has been signed, however, and because of that, his future is currently up in the air.

Former Michigan legend and ESPN analyst Desmond Howard appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday and discussed the coaching situation, and he understands why Harbaugh might want to leave for the NFL.

“If I was in Jim Harbaugh's shoes the NFL would be an option to me after what happened with the new Big Ten Commissioner..,” Desmond Howard said. “I don't know what's gonna happen when the season is over but this Michigan team is laser focused.”

Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti suspended Jim Harbaugh for the final three games of the regular season because of the on-going sign-stealing investigation that the Wolverines are involved in. There was no evidence that Harbaugh had any knowledge of what happened, and his suspension was issued the day before Michigan played at Penn State… and it happened while the Wolverines were on their flight to Happy Valley.

Even before that happened, Harbaugh has given attention to NFL jobs. If he is going to leave Michigan to return to the pros, this seems like the year that he would do it.
