OG announced the departure of MidOne from their team, late Monday evening.

THE VERSATILE CORE PLAYER, MIDONE LEAVES OG

Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng joined OG at the start of 2020, part of the fresh set of faces that played for the organization at a time of rebuilding. Back then, OG came off a historic back-to-back The International championships for Dota 2. The team parted ways with some of their two-time champions, and a new set of players needed to step up to fill some big shoes. MidOne stepped up more than he needed to, even shifting roles when necessary. Even with the global pandemic preventing the Malaysian player from competing alongside his European teammates, he performed well.

OG stated in their farewell message: “[He competed] from his Malaysian home during online tournaments and still [performed] as the king that he is with 300 ping without complaining one bit.”

However, while MidOne may not have complained about his ping, it did affect the team's performance. “The Dota 2 results for the past few months have been quite rough on the squad,” reads OG's statement. “And the team as a whole felt the need for a breath of fresh air among their ranks.”

It seems like MidOne and OG parted ways amicably, with no hard feelings. It also seems like the move came from a vantage of mutual understanding between the player and the organization.

I want to thank Yeik for his hard work,” says the team's captain, Johan “N0tail” Sundstein. “He is an extraordinary player, and is unfortunate we couldn’t get better results together. Thank you Yeik, and best of luck!”

Meanwhile, OG has made no announcements yet on who will replace MidOne. Thanks to the players' willingness to change roles when necessary, it makes it hard to guess who will be joining OG this time around. Meanwhile, rumors of Anathan “ana” Pham's inevitable return to OG will surely come to life now…
