Last summer may have been a memorable one for him as he signed the biggest contract in NBA history of $153 million for five years, but for Memphis Grizzlies‘ point guard Mike Conley, there is still something he wants to achieve in his career.

Despite making the playoffs in each season since he joined the league in 2011, the 29-year-old Ohio State product has never been named an All-Star yet. He recently talked about it and shared how he feels not being able to add that honor to his list of achievements.

“It’s very frustrating, but I know my team feels like I am, I feel like I am that All-Star-caliber guy. I just have to keep playing like that and get better as each year goes by.”

His career averages of 13.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game is impressive but given the great point guards the Western Conference has like Chris Paul, Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook, it makes it very difficult for him to crack the lineup voted by fans and named by other head coaches from the conference.

So far in the young season, Conley has been playing at a higher level with averages of 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.3 steals and has helped his team reach an 8-5 record.

He looks to play the best basketball of his career this year and prove to all his doubters that he deserves the hefty paycheck he's receiving. Conley also wants to continue to lead the Grizzlies in their hopes of making a very deep run in the playoffs, and on the way be noticed and finally land a spot in the All-Star game in February.
