The Arizona Diamondbacks are gearing up to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the first of a four-game set in Arizona. It's time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Diamondbacks-Brewers prediction and pick.

The Brewers won five straight before losing Tuesday to the Detroit Tigers and are suddenly on the other side of the .500 mark. The Diamondbacks are struggling mightily, having dropped 25 of the past 31 games, and have the second-worst mark in the National League.

Here's how sportsbooks have set the opening Diamondbacks-Brewers odds.

MLB Odds: Diamondbacks-Brewers Odds

Arizona Diamondbacks +1.5 (-130)

Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 (+110)

Over 9.5 (-103)

Under 9.5 (-117)

Why The Diamondbacks Could Cover The Spread

Plain and simple, they have to turn this around soon, right? Albeit, the National League West is surprisingly the best in all of baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and San Diego Padres owning three of the best records in the MLB.

The Diamondbacks are sending Jon Duplantier out to the mound for the opening game of the series. Duplantier went 4.2 innings and gave up four runs but flashed moments of talent and brilliance despite getting hit hard by the St. Louis Cardinals. On the other hand, the Brewers are tossing out Brett Anderson for the opening game.

The Diamondbacks put up a five-spot in the first inning of Wednesday's game against the New York Mets before eventually losing by one run. The night before, Arizona won by a score of 6-5 so it appears that their bats have suddenly woken up after a brutally cold stretch.

The verdict is still out on Duplantier, and maybe he could shake off his first outing and hold the Brewers to a few runs and hope for the Diamondbacks bats to go off again.

Why The Brewers Could Cover The Spread

They are insanely hot as of late. The Brew Crew have won eight of their past 11 games and are flying up the standings in the National League Central. Willy Adames has fit in quite nicely since coming over via trade from Tampa Bay, and Kolten Wong had a pair of home runs on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers.

Avisail Garcia has been superb all season long and Christian Yelich is just due for a huge performance. Brett Anderson has a 2-3 record with an ERA of 4.18 in just over 32 innings tossed on the year. After a strong start to the season, Anderson has cooled off quite a bit and is looking to get back on track.

These Diamondbacks are in the midst of a huge skid and the Brewers should have every opportunity to go into Arizona and, at the very least, take three of four over the weekend.

Final Diamondbacks-Brewers Prediction & Pick

Anderson should at least go five and who knows about Duplantier. Still, Arizona is struggling royally and the Brewers should score a bunch of runs in the first game and over the course of the four-game series. The Brewers take game one and it isn't really close in any way as both teams plate some runs and crush the over line.
