The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants will face off in the final game of a three-game series. It's time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Dodgers-Giants prediction and pick.

This is a crucial game for both squads. These bitter rivals are tied for the NL West lead right now, and the winner of this game will take first place. The Dodgers have been fighting for this opportunity almost all year long, and they finally have their chance to take the division lead.

The Giants have been in first place for the majority of the season, and they would hate to fall to second place right as September starts. Expect both teams to play their best baseball in one of the most important games of the season.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the odds for Sunday's game.

Los Angeles Dodgers -1 1/2 (-114)

San Francisco Giants +1 1/2 (-106)

Over 8 runs (-122)

Under 8 runs (+102)

Why The Dodgers Could Cover The Spread

Los Angeles enters this game with a huge pitching advantage. The Dodgers have the privilege of sending Cy Young hopeful Walker Buehler to the mound in this game, something that typically works out well for Los Angeles.

Buehler has been downright fantastic this season, earning himself a 2.05 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP on the year. Those are obviously elite numbers, but they get even better when he faces the Giants. Buehler has played San Francisco five times this season, pitching a total of 34 innings against them. Over those 34 innings, he has only allowed three runs. That's absoutely incredible, and there's no reason to think that Buehler's dominance won't continue in this game.

The Dodgers also have the advantage of facing a bullpen game in this one. The Giants have announced that Dominic Leone will make the start for them Sunday, his first of the season. San Francisco's bullpen has been dominant this season, but asking for a full nine innings against this strong Los Angeles lineup may be asking for too much, especially in a game as important as this one.

Why The Giants Could Cover The Spread

In order for San Francisco to win this game, the offense will have to show up and show out. Despite their struggles against Buehler, that's entirely possible because of just how good this offense is. They rank inside the top 10 in MLB in batting average, slugging percentage, OBP, and OPS. They've also hit the second-most home runs in all of baseball. It would be silly to count the Giants out because of their previous struggles against Buehler.

If any bullpen in the majors can shut down the Dodgers for nine innings, it's this one. San Francisco has seven relievers with an ERA under 3.00, showing just how good this bullpen really is. Multiple bullpen arms have shown the ability to pitch multiple innings, so it's unlikely that the Giants have to rely on good pitching performances from six or seven different relievers. This relief corps should be able to keep San Francisco in striking distance for most of the day.

Final Dodgers-Giants Prediction & Pick

There's just too much going against the Giants to pick them here. Walker Buehler clearly loves pitching against them, and relying on a bullpen to outduel him is not a profitable play in the long run. Los Angeles should be able to put up enough runs to get the job done against this relief corps, and Buehler should continue his Giant-killing run. Take the Dodgers to cover with confidence.

FINAL PICK: Los Angeles Dodgers -1 1/2 (-114)
