The Los Angeles Dodgers will try and win the rubber match as they face the Chicago White Sox in the finale on the South Side. It's time to continue our MLB odds coverage with a Dodgers-White Sox prediction and pick.

The Dodgers defeated the White Sox 4-1 on Wednesday to take the second game of the three-game series. First, Will Smith started things off when he smacked a two-run bomb to left field. It was his seventh home run in 2022, giving the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead. Later, Cody Bellinger joined the party when he whacked a solo shot to right field. It was his seventh home run in 2022, putting Los Angeles up 3-0. However, the White Sox countered in the fifth when Jake Burger slugged a solo shot to deep left field for a home run. It was his sixth of the year, putting theSox on the board. Ultimately, the Dodgers added one more run on a Trea Turner home run, and that would be all for the scoring.

Tony Gonsolin pitched effectively, tossing six innings while allowing one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts. Alternatively, Johnny Cueto threw six innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts. The Dodgers are 36-20 and currently the second-best team in the National League. Meanwhile, the White Sox are 26-28 and fiddling in third place in the AL Central.

Why The Dodgers Could Cover The Spread

The Dodgers will go with Tyler Anderson on the mound. Anderson has pitched spectacularly in 2022, delivering a 7-0 record with a 2.59 ERA. He allowed no earned run on three hits with five strikeouts in his last start. Amazingly, Anderson has tossed three straight scoreless starts. He also has four starts of two or fewer runs allowed in 2022. There has been one game all season in which he struggled. Additionally, he forced 14 swing-and-miss pitches in his last outing, with 10 coming on the changeup. Anderson has been the best Dodgers pitcher out there when many expected him to be a fifth starter at best. Despite the injuries and struggles of some teammates, the Dodgers are prospering, and so is Anderson. He has some help in a fantastic lineup that continues to pound the baseball.

Freddie Freeman is delivering solid numbers, batting .283 with four home runs and 30 RBIs. Also, Turner continues to slug the baseball with a .303 batting average and four home runs, and 31 RBIs. Mookie Betts continues to marvel, batting .297 with 16 home runs and 39 RBIs. Also, the Dodgers might get Max Muncy back. Manager Dave Roberts said that Muncy's game at Triple-A Oklahoma on Wednesday would be his last. It means that Muncy could rejoin them for this trip or when they face the San Francisco Giants on Friday.

The Dodgers have gone just 3-6 over nine games so they could use all the help they can get. Additionally, their rotation has stretched itself thin while attempting to cover injuries. Likewise, their offense has managed more than four runs just once through 11 games.

The Dodgers will cover the spread if they get another quality start from Anderson. Also, they need the offense to provide some run support. The goal will be to get many chances to produce. The offense must attack the White Sox starter to throw him off his game.

Why The White Sox Could Cover The Spread

The White Sox will go with Dylan Cease on the hill. Cease is 4-2 with a 3.39 ERA in 2022. While he has pitched well at times, his pitching has remained inconsistent. Cease allowed two earned runs (none earned) on one hit and five strikeouts through 4 2/3 innings in his previous start. The reason he exited the game so quickly was because of his high walk rate. Cease walked seven batters. Likewise, he has allowed 11 batters to get free bases over the last two games. Cease is not going deep into games, as he has reached seven innings one time, and six innings on three occasions. He must regain consistency over his pitches and find a way to strike hitters out again.

The White Sox do not have an impressive lineup as they rank near the bottom in nearly every category. Luis Robert, Yoan Moncada, and Jose Abreu are the heart of the order. However, all three combined to go 0 for 11 from the plate on Wednesday. The White Sox cover the spread if Cease throws a great game, and the heart of the order can deliver on some opportune chances.

Final Dodgers-White Sox Prediction & Pick

The Dodgers look to take this final game before facing their rivals. Anderson has been good all year, and facing a weak White Sox lineup will add to his success. Expect the Dodgers to win and cover.

Final Dodgers-White Sox Prediction & Pick: Dodgers: -1.5 (+136)
