Rickwood Field is the oldest professional ballpark in the United States. Furthermore, it was the the home to Birmnigham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues. The team played their throughout their entire existence as a franchise, and the team won four league titles in their history. On June 20th, 2024, the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants will play against each other in Rickwood Field as a tribute to the Negro Leagues.

Willie Mays began his professional career in 1948, and after a brief stint with the Chattanooga Choo-Choos, he played for the Birmingham Black Barons for one season. in 1951, he was called up by the Giants to play, and he made an impact right away. The 24-time All-Starr earned the NL Rookie of the Year award in 1951, and proceeded to accomplish more in his career.
