The Houston Astros are in a bit of a pickle right now. They lost Game 3 of the World Series against the Atlanta Braves and are now down 1 – 2 in the series. Losing Game 4 would be catastrophic to their chances of winning the title this season, so the Astros made a big move and started Zack Greinke in the pivotal match.
While Greinke's prowess is well-known to fans, one Braves player seems to not be fazed by the Astros' starting pitcher. Or at least, that's what the stats say. Inside Edge on Twitter noted this interesting stat about outfielder Joc Pederson.
Joc Pederson hits 5th tonight against Zack Greinke.

Pederson seems to have Greinke's number throughout his career, as the Braves outfielder is hitting 9 of 30 all-time against the Astros pitcher. This includes an outstanding seven extra base hits, which will bode well for their chances of grabbing a huge 3-1 lead in the series. The Braves were already favored heavily in this game, and this stat only seems to cement their status.
In all fairness though, the Astros seem confident Greinke can shut down the Braves offense. Manager Dusty Baker had this to say when talking about the pitcher's upcoming start.
“If anybody knows how to pitch in a big game, it’s Greinke,” Baker said.
As most fans know, though, stats are just stats. When it comes down to it, big-time players will defy the stats and odds and perform better than we expected them to be. Already, it's not looking too hot for the Braves, as Pederson was grounded out in his first at-bat against Greinke and are yet to score. Can they break through and take a commanding 3-1 lead in this game?
