Is there anything Shohei Ohtani can't do? One night after returning to the mound to toss four scoreless innings after failing to pitch the previous two weeks due to a blister issue, the two-way phenom stepped into the batter's box and crushed a ball into the right-field stands for the Los Angeles Angels.
He hit that pitch like it had personally offended him. (Video via Bally Sports West)

With the Angels already holding a one-run lead against the beleaguered Texas Rangers in the bottom of the third inning in their matinee game, Ohtani stepped into the batter's box to face Mike Foltynewicz for the second time. Having previously struck out looking in the first inning, Ohtani worked the count to even at 2-and-2 before belting a hanging breaking ball near the inside for a solo shot to right.
And just to show he had no need for rest only a day after pitching, Ohtani briskly sprinted around the base paths in just 17 seconds. We, on the other hand, are winded just watching him work.
While Ohtani has only been able to make two starts on the mound thus far–throwing 8.2 innings with a 1.04 era–the Angels designated hitter has more than made up for his lack of availability in the starting rotation with his work in the lineup card. Through 55 at-bats of the still-young season, Ohtani is hitting .309 (which is good), with a .345 OBP (which is very good), and a 175 OPS+ (which is stupefyingly good). All told, Ohtani has accumulated .8 WAR in just 14 games this year, leaving him just outside the top 10 of all positional players in the majors this season.
He is, however, number one in our hearts.
