It's the middle of the MLB offseason and teams across the league are negotiating re-signing players right now. Free agency is in full swing and players are finding new hopes left and right. But it sounds like the Los Angeles Dodgers want to maintain their roster as best as possible. With that said, Jason Heyward aims to return for at least one more season.

Reports indicate that the Dodgers are planning to bring Jason Heyward back, according to Kiley McDaniel of ESPN. If a deal goes through, then it will be a one-year contract for Heyward. Pending the physical, he'll be signing a $9 million deal to stay in LA.

The veteran outfielder proved to be a gem for the Dodgers. He finished the 2023 season with a .269 batting average, 15 home runs, and 40 RBIs. It makes sense for Los Angeles to bring him back, as he's maintained consistency throughout his career.

Los Angeles ended this last season as the No. 2 seed in the MLB Playoffs. However, they were bounced out by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Having a veteran like Jason Heyward brings the experience they need to make a run for the postseason. But the Dodgers probably hope to do much better next season.

Considering the Dodgers are one of the best teams in the league right now, we should see their name often throughout free agency. Signing Jason Heyward to a new contract is a nice move from Los Angeles. However, the front office may have some bigger names in mind. Look for this franchise to possibly sign one of the more exciting names in the coming months.
