The power of Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees was simply too much to handle for the Chicago Cubs on Saturday, particularly to right-hander Matt Swarmer, who got absolutely taken to the woodshed by the Bronx Bombers. Swarmer, making just his third start of the season, allowed seven hits, six of which were crushed beyond the field by the Yankees, before getting pulled from the game.

Prior to Swarmer's latest outing, there had been no player in the majors who gave up that many solo home runs in a game since 1932.

Matt Swarmer allowed 6 HR, the most by a Cubs pitcher since Tom Lee allowed 6 in a game on June 28, 1884 (also 6). He's the 2nd pitcher in MLB history to allow 6 solo HR in a game, joining Hollis “Sloppy” Thurston on August 13, 1932.

Judge started the show by teeing off in the first inning for a solo home run. Giancarlo Stanton, Gleyber Torres,  Jose Trevino each followed suit and sent moonshots in the succeeding innings before Judge added another tater in the fifth. Anthony Rizzo dealt the last blow to Swarmer with a solo shot in the same frame.

In retrospect, Swarmer's performance against the hard-hitting Yankees was likely going to end up badly for him. For one, among all Cubs starters, Swarmer entered Saturday's game with the highest HR/9 (2.25) and HR/FB rate (21.4%), albeit on small sample size.
