The most pressing item on the New York Yankees' to-do list ahead of Opening Day is the contract extension of superstar outfielder Aaron Judge. Judge, who is one of the very best hitters in the league when healthy, has done everything right off the field as well, making him as well-liked a Yankee as any on the roster. Every fan wants to see him sign a new contract extension with the team. That's why Yankee fans are likely on edge after the most recent update on Judge, which said that he and the club “weren't close” on an extension. However, former MLB star and current Yankees television analyst Carlos Beltran made every Yankees fans' year with his recent Judge contract update. Or did he?

Could it be? Beltran spoke about how he's glad to see Judge able to “create this new contract with the Yankees” and being able to “extend his stay in New York.” It sure sounds like Beltran knows something that New York fans don't.

Beltran clarified that he hopes Judge will sign a new contract with the Yankees. Well, that was underwhelming. New York fans likely just went through a roller coaster of emotions thanks to Beltran, who forgot to mention that he was merely thinking out loud.

It should be noted that this is Beltran's first experience as a television analyst, so he deserves a bit of leeway here. Just don't tell that to Yankee fans who had crystal clear visions of Judge signing the dotted line on a new contract after they read his quote.
