The New York Yankees were left for dead at the all-star break. The Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays were cruising in the American League East and New York was fizzling out quickly.
Fast forward to Thursday night and the Yankees had just beaten the Oakland Athletics for their 12th straight win. It marked the first time the franchise had won 12 in a row in 60 years!
Nobody in baseball is as hot as New York and now they are just 4 games back of the Rays in the AL East and they lead the wildcard chase.
The offense for the Bronx Bombers has been rolling and adding Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo at the MLB Trade Deadline did wonders.
That last team to win 12 in a row for the Yankees, the 1961 squad, saw their streak reach 13. It's something New York will be aiming for on Friday night against the A's.

It's an incredible streak the Yankees find themselves on and perhaps most impressive is that it hasn't come against a bunch of bottom feeders. During this streak they have beaten the Chicago White Sox, Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox and now, the A's have been added to the list.
