After making the postseason in 2022, the Seattle Mariners were on the outside looking in following the 2023 campaign. As the Mariners look to get back to prominence, Seattle has added a key reliever to their bullpen mix.

The Mariners have signed Austin Voth to a one-year, $1.25 million contract, via Robert Murray of FanSided. Voth has been with the Baltimore Orioles since the second half of the 2022 season.

The right-hander struggled throughout the 2023 season, holding a 5.19 ERA and a 34/15 K/BB ratio. However, Voth looked much during his debut with the Orioles throughout the second half of 2022. He held a 3.04 ERA and a 72/25 K/BB ratio.

However, that output came with Voth making a career-high 17 starts. He didn't get a single start throughout the 2023 season. His move to full-time reliever came with some growing pains. But the Mariners clearly liked what they saw, bringing Voth aboard for a potential playoff run.

Bullpen was one of Seattle's greatest strengths through the 2023 season. The team ranked fourth in the major leagues with a 3.48 ERA. Their .232 batting average against tied for eighth-best while 211 walks tied for third-fewest in the league.

Still, the Mariners need to show improvement in all areas to make their mark in the playoffs. Their 88-74 record was only good enough for third place in the AL West.

Austin Voth won't singlehandedly make the Mariners World Series contenders. But he gives Seattle another experience arm in their bullpen. With starting experience, the right-hander can fill a versatile role. But however he is used by Seattle, the Mariners are excited to have Voth on their roster.
