Nate Diaz has been an interesting figure in the UFC and one that always seems to have a complicated future. Dana White spoke to reporters after UFC Vegas 41 and confirmed that Nate Diaz only had one fight left on his contract.
The word got out after Vicente Luque's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, said that Luque didn't get the fight because Nate Diaz only has one left and they wanted a big matchup. He hinted at a possible trilogy bout against Conor McGregor.
Dana White said Nate Diaz had one fight left and also shut down the rumored bout against Tony Ferguson. They are working on something but an opponent has yet to be announced.
“He’s got one more fight,” White said. “We’re working on a fight for him. Tony (Ferguson) wasn’t one of the guys we’re working on, but we’re working on a fight for Nate now. He’s got one fight left (on his contract).”
The fight with Tony Ferguson came about after Nate Diaz tweeted a picture of Tony Ferguson. The bout came with many positive reactions but Dana White shut down the talk at the post-fight press conference.
It is unclear what the plan is for Nate Diaz after his last fight. He will have many options including re-signing with the UFC. Many speculate that he could go to boxing or compete in circus fights like Jake Paul.
Dana White doesn't know what's next for Diaz either. All he knows is that currently, they are working on a fight for him.
