Information regarding when players are going to be selected in the NBA Draft (and by which team) will be a bit harder to come by this go around. In years past, hoops fan followed Twitter closely, refreshing their time lines and waiting on updates from their favorite expert.

According to several reports, the NBA has asked several major news outlets, including ESPN, Turner Sports and Yahoo, to refrain from posting early Draft information. Previously, reporters were free to post updates about a player's suitor the moment the news became available. Now, however, things will be different, and the media has agreed to the league's terms.

ESPN has instructed its reporters to refrain from revealing picks on social media before they’re announced at Thursday’s Draft, breaking with how the network has operated in the past,” Alex Putterman of Awful Announcing writes in his recent article.

An NBA spokesman noted that the same standard will be in place for other NBA media partners that don't own the rights to the draft broadcast.

“We spoke with our media partners about our preference that ESPN’s exclusive broadcast rights be honored, but each organization will make its own editorial decisions,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a statement to Awful Announcing.

The 2018 NBA Draft will be held inside the Barclays Center on Thursday, June 21, at 7:00 p.m. EST. Though reporters will still be able to break some lesser news, such as trades, it sounds like the actual picking order will be kept under lock and key until Mr. Silver announces each name at the podium.
