Kevin Durant may have ruptured his Achilles tendon in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night, but that won't stop the Golden State Warriors from trying to re-sign him.

According to Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo Sports, the Warriors are still expected to offer Durant a max contract, which does not come as that much of a surprise.

It's no secret that Golden State has had every intention of aiming to keep Durant, and some have surmised that Durant's injury actually makes it even more likely that he returns to the Dubs, as rival teams may shy away from offering the 30-year-old a max deal.

However, others have speculated that Durant's injury won't stop clubs like the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers from pursuing him in free agency.

Durant initially suffered a calf strain during Game 5 of the Warriors' second-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets. He then ended up missing Game 6 and proceeded to be sidelined throughout the entirety of Golden State's four-game sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference Finals.

The two-time Finals MVP then missed the first four games of the finals against the Toronto Raptors, but tried to return in Game 5. He got off to a great start, scoring 11 points in the first quarter, but then, during the second period, Durant went to put a move on Serge Ibaka and crumpled to the floor grabbing his right Achilles.

Durant originally signed with the Warriors during the summer of 2016 and led the Dubs to back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018.
