NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley has “no idea” why Carmelo Anthony isn't in the NBA at the moment.

Anthony hasn't played in an NBA game since last year. Melo played in just 10 games with the Houston Rockets before the franchise exiled and traded him to the Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls waived Anthony, who hasn't received any interest from teams since entering the open market.

“I have no idea why Carmelo is not in the NBA,” Barkley told Brandon ‘Scoop B' Robinson of Heavy. “I’m not gonna make up anything, but I’m surprised he’s not in the league. I thought someone would have picked him up by now, but I can’t give you a legitimate answer to be honest with you.”

Anthony averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game with the Rockets while shooting 40.5 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.

If Anthony doesn’t play ever again, it would be a sad end to what was a great career. One of the best scorers in NBA history, Anthony has career averages of 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Hopefully, there’s a team out there that doesn’t buy into the narratives and gives Anthony one last shot to play the game he loves. Melo is an NBA legend and deserves to go out on his own terms.
