Glen Davis was involved in a past scheme to defraud the NBA insurance system, and he was eventually sentenced to 40 months in prison. He plans on appealing the charges, and he also thinks that there were more players involved, but the NBA is covering them. Davis was involved with player such as Terrance Williams, Tony Allen, Keyon Dooling, Alan Anderson and more. During a recent episode of The Ringer NBA Show, Davis claimed that he thinks the NBA is covering up for some players.

It all started for Glen Davis because of ankle injury that he had while playing with the Los Angeles Clippers. He didn't realize the severity of it, and he played through it, but that just made things worse. Now, he is sharing his whole view on the fraud situation in the NBA.

Glen Davis: “There’s all types of schemes going on, you understand what I’m saying, the NBA hid a lot of players right. There was stuff going on everywhere. Me not knowing what’s going on, I run into my friend, but they got it going on over here to.”

Van Latham: “There’s several different people defrauding the NBA?”

Glen Davis: “It’s so many people doing it and I literally went to jail but I have a real injury, I had a real problem, had a real, real, serious problem.”

Van Latham: “You really received treatment and then got reimbursed for that treatment is what you’re saying?”

Glen Davis: “Yes, I really received treatment and got reimbursed.”

Glen Davis believes that the system is corrupt

Glen Davis said that he had a real injury that he received treatment for, but that apparently isn't the case with everyone. Davis believes that the system is corrupt, and he knows why the NBA is trying to cover up some instances with other players.

“When they say you defrauded the plan, it’s like impossible you know because of my background and my injury, and so when you’re having a real injury, you’re coming from a place of like not trying to take, I’m trying to get what is owed,” Davis said. “But the thing about it is people don’t realize the fact that the system is corrupt, there were hundreds of basketball players that wasn’t on that list that literally got subpoenaed for the same thing, but you didn’t hear nothing about it. They’re on ESPN, they’re on your favorite podcast and so imagine if the NBA lets that get out.”

The whole situation is extremely complicated and it's hard to know what's really going on with it. Davis obviously has a lot of involvement with it and he would know better than most people, but it's hard to actually prove that the NBA is covering things up for certain players.

The news of Davis getting sentence to 40 months in prison dropped just a couple months ago in March. He was first convicted in November of 2023.

It will be interesting to see how this situation continues to develop and if there are any new names that surface in regards to the scheme.
