Former Florida State standout Kiah Gillespie was just selected 32nd overall by the Chicago Sky during the recently-concluded WNBA Draft. After having to wait longer to have her name called in the draft, the 22-year-old decided to seek some advice from none other than former two-time NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas — who was a late-round draft pick himself

To Gillespie's surprise, Thomas reached out to her, sending the young lady some valuable advice about what she has to do now that she has reached the highest level of the sport.

Thomas' rise to fame was phenomenal. From literally being the last pick of the 2011 NBA Draft, he gradually worked himself up to becoming a bona fide superstar. His best stint came during his time with the Boston Celtics, during which he was named in the All-Star squad in back-to-back seasons and emerged as one of the finalists for the coveted 2016-17 MVP trophy.

IT is the epitome of hard work and dedication, and he hopes to rub off some of the same to Gillespie here. After all, there have been a lot of success stories of late-round picks thriving in the league, so perhaps Gillespie could follow in their footsteps.

For his part, Isaiah Thomas himself is going through yet another hurdle in his NBA career today. After being waived by the Los Angeles Clippers in February following a trade from the Washington Wizards, the 5-foot-9 guard has yet to sign for a new team. He has indicated earlier that he is not yet ready to retire at this point, so hopefully, we get to see the 31-year-old take the floor again next season.
