Former NBA swingman Jalen Rose offered up his opinion on load management during Wednesday's airing of “Jalen & Jacoby” on ESPN. The Detroit native feels that fans and media members should take the blame for this increasingly-prevalent aspect of today's game.

“What ends up happening is fans and media should take the blame for this,” Rose said. “Here’s why: You guys have shown players you don’t care about the journey, the 82-game season. You care about the destination. You dumb it down so very much that the regular season becomes irrelevant to you on how you analyze players and you only talk about how many championships you won.

“Players today are more skilled than ever, more smarter than ever and have more access to information than ever.”

Jalen's comments came in light of the Clippers' decision to rest Kawhi Leonard for Wednesday night's matchup against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, which was the first game of a back-to-back set. It was a move that left some fans and media members with a bitter taste in their mouths, including EPSN analyst Doris Burke, who lamented the fact that one of the NBA's biggest stars would be held out for rest.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers were in compliance with the NBA policies on resting players:

“Kawhi Leonard is not a healthy player under the league's resting policy and, as such, is listed as managing a knee injury in the LA Clippers' injury report,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass told ESPN earlier Wednesday. “The league office, in consultation with the NBA's director of sports medicine, is comfortable with [the] team medical staff's determination that Leonard is not sufficiently healthy to play in back-to-back games at this time.”

The Clippers fought hard in Wednesday's game against the Bucks, but they were ultimately defeated, 129-124, without the services of Leonard and Paul George, who is still recovering from shoulder surgeries but expected to be back soon.

Barring any unforeseen setbacks, Leonard should be good to go for Thursday night's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Tip-off inside the STAPLES Center is set for 10:30 p.m. ET, with TNT having live broadcast coverage.
