As the Golden State Warriors and their enormous fan base celebrate the spoils of their recent Championship, the rest of the NBA have already set their sights on the 2018-19 season. The good news is that the offseason has started earlier than it has in the past 32 years, which gives teams more than enough time to prepare for the upcoming season.

After the Warriors ended their year-long quest to back-to-back titles on June 9, the offseason officially got underway. According to Dan Feldman of NBC Sports, it was only in 1983 that the offseason began earlier than this, when it started June 1.

This is in large part due to the Warriors making short work of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, as they only needed four games to complete their championship run. The last time the Finals was won in such a convincing fashion was in 2002, when the one-two punch of Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers proved too much for Jason Kidd and his New Jersey Nets. But even then, the offseason did not start until June 22.

There is definitely much to be excited about in this year's offseason. The NBA Draft is scheduled on June 21, and it will be interesting to see where the likes of DeAndre Ayton, Luka Doncic, and Mo Bamba will end up.

Free agency will then open on July 1, as the world awaits the big decision from LeBron James, which should dictate the landscape of the entire NBA for years to come.
